Firefighters

Responding to emergencies, bravely putting out fires, rescuing people in need- everyone loves role-playing a Firefighgter. Offering children the chance to really take on the persona and confidence that a Firefighter needs requires a hardwearing Firefighter uniform To make the whole Firefighter experience as realistic as possible our Fire Station pdf’s, available in English or Irish allow you to set up a role play area quickly and easily.

Our large format “I am a….”poster is designed to introduce the theme of The Fire Station and some of the new vocabulary so that children can discuss the theme of Firefighters. Character Traits flash-cards can be added to the poster to encourage children to think about and identify the behaviours that they expect from a Firefighter. The “I use..” flash-cards help to introduce some new vocabulary; common equipment used by Firefighters and the blank cards can be used to scribe the roles and responsibilities that the children consider part of a Firefighter’s job.

Make your own Fire Station

Our printable Fire Station pack includes lots of resources so that you can easily set up a Fire Station dramatic-play area of your own. In addition to the “I am a…” theme poster there is another large format poster, Welcome to the Fire Station that can be used to designate a specific role-play area as the Fire Station. The pdf includes A4 posters for the walls, charts and certificates. We have included plenty of mark-making and writing opportunities with Incident Forms, and of course, all little Firefighters should complete a fire safety check so the Fire Safety Checklist will come in handy! The personalisable Firefightger Name Badges can be filled in and attached to a lanyard so that everyone knows just who is leading the way during Fire drills.

What is included

The A4 posters included in the pack promote fire safety and help children identify some key safety signage in their own environment.

Once they have completed their training every little Firefighter deserves a certificate of their own. The certificates included in the Fire Station pdf can be printed off, personalised and even framed!

Like all of our resource packs the Fire Station pdf includes lots of mark-making and writing opportunities.

*Name Badges
*Colouring pages
*Incident forms

The fire safety checklist can be used as part of fire safety training, a fire drill or as a way to simply discuss the equipment which can be found in the environment. With lots of things to find and check off, the little Firefighter will be doing an important job ensuring everyone stays safe.

Props

We always recommend using real-life and authentic props whenever possible. In the case of the Firefighters, you might not want to go so far as using fore extinguishers but you could think about using a discharged kitchen-sized extinguisher under adult supervision. Garden hoses and wellies make great, practical accessories. Don’t forget to set up a call centre area with a desk and chair for a workstation, an old computer monitor, a keyboard and some stationary. Folders and a clipboard would be going that bit further and if you can get hold of an old phone all the better. Everything you need in terms of forms, signs, and posters are in the pdf pack.

Available As Gaeilge

“The packs are such a useful resource but to have them available in Irish is just amazing. Using them saves me so much time and I am so happy with the standard of the Irish, it is really brilliant.
